"...after spinning this as much as she possibly could, Ida Ruben is complaining about Jamie Raskin's campaign contributions, when on these same categories, she's more 'guilty' than Raskin is. Voters, draw your own conclusions."
So I saw Ida Ruben's latest assault on Jamie Raskin (apparently, the ugly donkey just didn't work too well).
It's those pesky Raskin campaign contributions, apparently. Jamie Raskin just got too damn many of them for Ida's tastes.
Heh.
No, no, actually Senator Ruben sent out a press release which said the following:
- 68.77% of Raskin’s total contributions came from outside legislative district 20.
- 52.88% of Raskin’s total contributions came from outside Montgomery County.
- 47.57% of Raskin’s total contributions came from outside Maryland.
- 40.64% of Raskin’s total Maryland donations came from Maryland jurisdictions outside of legislative district 20.
Well, that sounds bad, doesn't it? Well, actually, before I come to that conclusion, it seems we ought to know how Ida did on these same numbers. So I read the rest of the press release, which didn't say. Hmmmm, says I, the intrepid sleuth. Time for "Fun with Maryland Campaign Contributions."
The results are below. You might be surprised. I wasn't. I don't think Senator Ruben will be, either.
Here's the side by side comparison:
Contributions from outside District 20: Raskin 68.77, Ruben 85.34.
Contributions from outside Montgomery County: Raskin 52.88, Ruben 35.32.
Contributions from outside Maryland: Raskin 47.57, Ruben 16.45.
MD contributions from outside District 20: Raskin 40.64, Ruben 82.45.
So, to recap, Raskin is vastly superior on two of IDA RUBEN'S OWN CHOSEN CATEGORIES. She's better on the other two.
However, if you add up the numbers, higher being worse, the Raskin total is 209.86. Ruben's total, AGAIN ON HER OWN CHOSEN TURF, is HIGHER -- 219.56.
So after spinning this as much as she possibly could, Ida Ruben is complaining about Jamie Raskin's campaign contributions, when on these same categories, she's more "guilty" than Raskin is.
Voters, draw your own conclusions.
